Mission Sphyrna Odyssey: Let's protect cetaceans

Lemer Pax and Sea Proven, founders of the Sphyrna Odyssey Missions, are once again using their 100 % autonomous drone and the semi-autonomous trimaran Solar Odyssey for a new mission off the French and Portuguese coasts in 2022. The concept is simple: provide scientists with new tools for maritime exploration, such as the Sphyrna drones, in order to gain a better understanding of the oceans. In the program: characterisation of pollutants, currentology and bathymetry, satellite calibration, bioacoustic studies of cetaceans and validation of the drone's monitoring performance.

Welcome to ITER!

Lemer Pax team had the chance to visit the huge construction site of ITER (International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor), one of the most ambitious energy projects in the world, that will lead to industrial-scale fusion electricity. More than 35 countries are working together, including the European Union, China, Japan, Russia and the United States, to try to reproduce, on Earth, the processes that occur in the Sun’s core, with virtually inexhaustible primary resources, no risk of nuclear meltdown and no high-level and long-lived radioactive waste.

How to inject ictal SPECT? From manual to automated injection

Published in the september issue of the Epilepsy Research journal, the scientific publication of Dr. Xavier Setoain, from the Hospital Clinic Barcelona (Spain), and his team, about the main characteristics of the first automatic injector for ictal SPECT: Epijet®. This study compares traditional manual injection with automatic injection in 122 patients with drug-resistant epilepsy. The first results are promising in adjustment of the injection dose, reducing the rate of radiation exposure for patients and nurses, maintaining the same injection time and allowing high SPECT accuracy.

France Relance: Lemer Pax, laureate of the support fund for investments in the nuclear sector

With its "Novashield® Glass" project Lemer Pax is pleased to be one of the 3 laureates of the support fund for investments in the nuclear sector in Loire-Atlantique. The aim of the «Novashield® Glass»project: to develop a new transparent, unleaded, eco-friendly material that reduces a wide range of ionising radiation. This material could be used in the medical, nuclear, research, aeronautical sectors.

Milestone Rubijet®: from concept to reality

Last November, Naogen Pharma installed its brand new Rubijet automatic injector, designed and created in partnership with Lemer Pax at the Institute of Isotopes in Budapest, Hungary, one of the facilities where Naogen Pharma produces Rubidium-82 generators. The objective of the project: to develop the technologies required to allow for the use of Rubidium-82 chloride in the non-invasive diagnosis of myocardial ischemia, using positron emission tomography (PET) for imaging purposes.

The whole Lemer Pax team was pleased to meet again with partners and customers during the 2021 edition of the WNE - World Nuclear Exhibition, the biggest civil nuclear exhibition in the world. This new edition was the perfect opportunity to present a preview of two innovative solutions in biological protection: the transparent ecological lead-free material "Novashield® Glass" and the unique system of detection and characterization of gamma radioactivity ARAMIS.

Cath Lab: Working with confidence and without a lead apron is possible!

During the 12th edition of the Portuguese annual congress APIC (Associação Portuguesa de Intervenção Cardiovascularelle), a Live Case, presented by Dr. Hugo Vinhas, Head of the Interventional Cardiology Unit of the University Hospital of Algarve, demonstrated once again the reliability of the Cathpax® AIR radiation protection cabin. Indeed, The radiation protection cabin reduces X-ray exposure during a 2h24 min CTO PCI procedure by more than 98%, with an X-ray exposure time of 38 min. During this procedure, the interventional cardiologist, protected by the cabin, retains complete freedom of movement, without the need to wear a lead apron! Real-time proof: the practitioner dosimetry at the end of the procedure is close to zero!

Unique gamma radioactivity detection and characterization system, ARAMIS (Autonomous RAdiation Mapping Integrated System) combines the mobility of Spot robot (Boston Dynamics) and the precision of the H400 sensor developed by H3D, Inc. Mobile and robust, ARAMIS is designed to keep operators away from potential exposure risks by mapping and securing all of the spaces in a nuclear environment. It is an invaluable asset for site inspections before maintenance operations or during on-site investigations in post-incident situations.
