My painting portrays a green and open space with a black painted figure. This paint symbolizes derealization, a severe symptom of social anxiety, meaning that a person may feel space out or be less able to recognize surroundings. With a big blue sky, green trees and happy colors, is portrayed a calm scenario, with exception of the black painted figure that has many big red and blue eyes.

The name of my painting is "Fear... lines of my future" and portrays a hand with a very strong and visible color, with a representative phrase around it. With this painting, I tried to represent the fear I have of my future through the lines of my own hand. They say that the lines symbolize a big part of our life, a destiny that cannot be changed.

The name of my painting is “Sombra do medo” shadow of fear in english. As the name says, the theme of my work is fear, and I portrayed a shadow of a person at a door, symbolizing the fear of going outside during the pandemic as it is also related with the erasmus project. The background is depicted as a cloudy sky because a grey sky is often related to bad emotions and feelings as sorrow and loneliness. I also choose a black and white as the only colors because the monocromatic look enhances the negative thoughts and emotions im looking to portray in my painting.

I was inspired by my anxiety to creat this piece, the blue spirals are the spirals of thoughts that the anxiety creates and we consume, they fill the whole space of the canvas because even if they stop more and more appear, creating an endless cycle. I chose the color blue because it’s the one which represents sadness and i decided to add the gold despite not being in the original design because those same spirals of thoughts are also good things, thing that will make us grow and learn, just beautiful things and yet we’re still afraid of them. The figure in the middle represents our own self dealing with the anxiety, it doesn’t have an expression or any emotion and i chose to do this because it portrays the fact that when we’re worrying deep in our thoughts we just let ourselves sink in those spirals and yet never fully submerge which causes agony of being trapped in our own head. the spirals have texture because they grow and grow and appear to be so real they almost become physical pain.

Within the scope of the Erasmus project, I was proposed to make a painting in which it should represent fear. To do this, I used the following elements: The eye with relief, which gives the sensation of leaving the cave, as there are fears that are created through vision. The black, blue and white background which are dark colors and in my opinion represent fear. The technique used was acrylic paint with card to make the smokey effect and white pen to make the lines. Finally the body that carries all these traumas and horrors caused by fear.
