The Column Method.

Today we will be looking into the column method and how it can be used to support us in completing maths equations without the support of a calculator.

Example of a 3 digit number multiplied by 1 digit number.

Top tips

- Used squared paper - Use one square per digit (Three squares for a three digit number) - Remember to include the symbol you are using. In this case it is an X for multiplication.
