About Matlab

MATLAB is an abbreviation of "MATrix LABoratory" is a proprietary multi-paradigm programming language and numeric computing environment.

Characteristics:

  • Made by Mathworks
  • Allows matrix manulations
  • is possible to plot fuctions and data
  • Allows the implementation of algorithms
  • The creation of user interfaces and interfacing with programs written in other languages is another charactetistic of the program

In few words

It is a high-level technical calculation language and an interactive environment (IDE) for the development of algorithms, the visualization and analysis of data, the creation of user interfaces, the communication with programs in other languages or with other hardware devices.

Problem description

In this task it is required to obtain the time (T) and the weight(mg), when the velocity of the rocket reaches 7200 km/h, which are the two forces acting on a rocket at the moment of launch, and are represented by the following equation:

There are some important facts to consider:

  • Neglect the effects of aerodynamic lift and drag
  • m is the instantaneous mass of the rocket
  • v its velocity and g acceleration due to gravity
  • The rocket’s mass decreases as it burns fuel with:
  • mo is the initial mass in Kg
  • t the time in seconds (s) and b = 40s
  • Assume mo = 2200 Kg, T = 48 kN and g = 9.81 m/s²
