Kind of HUGE problem

If you look up at the sky on Equinox, you will see that the sun is NOT in Aries. It's in Pisces. At one point, this was true, but over time, things have shifted and it is no longer accurate.

But it doesn't match the stars...

What Gives?

Once upon a time, it did. This happens due to a Phenomenon called the Precession of the Equinoxes! The Earth Rotates on a tilted axis that wobbles AKA spins on its OWN axial tilt. This rotation happens VERY slowly: One full rotation takes 25,772 years.T his is known as THE GREAT YEAR. This is what is responsible for Precession- AKA the shifting of the Zodiac. The idea that Astrology and Astronomy are totally separate disicplines is quite common in Astrology spaces- however, were you to tell this to the Ancient Astrologers, all of whom were also Astronomers, it is my sincerest belief they would laugh in your face.

Sidereal, like Tropical, divides the Zodiac into 12 equal parts, 30° each. Sidereal is the Zodiac used by Vedic (Indian) Astrology, and it adjusts the signs to more closely match reality.

Sidereal

- Uses equal, 30° Sign Divisions- Adjusts Calculations to more closely resemble the positions of the actual sky.

Tropical

- Uses equal, 30° Sign Divisions- Uses old, outdated calculations, determined by scholars who believed the Earth was the centre of the Universe

Some issues with the Sidereal System...

The Constellations AREN'T all perfect little 30° pie pieces. They actually vary in size! Vedic Astrology, which uses Sidereal, is a SERIOUS Spiritual Science that people spend lifetimes - yes multiple- learning. In Vedic, there are other divisions, calculations and considerations that can apply the appropriate nuance to these variations. Without going full blown Vedic, you are going to lost that nuance and be left with a map that is simply closer, but not QUITE accurate.
