Medical Content:

  • Basic Medical Skills Workshops
  • Visit to "Clínica Universidad de Navarra"
  • Work at the "Simulation Center": Clinical Workshops with patient, doctor and nurse interaction
  • Basic clinical practice such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  • Learn how to work clinical history with Spanish speaking patients content
  • Learn technical vocabulary: physical exam and instruments
  • Final Exam simulation: medical and nursing schools format by stations.
  • All students admitted will take this course.

Language Content: Work through the weeks on a digital narration that documents your experience in Spain and your education on health and medicine. The digital narration storytelling (DTS) is the program's capstone project and might be showcased at the closing ceremony.

Medical Spanish III Pre-requisite: SPAN 321 or SPAN 204 Faculty leaders approval

MDHM 420 Medical Humanities Practicum in Spain

Students are selected on a case-by-case evaluation that includes:

  • An interview
  • Language proficiency
  • Pre-med/Medical humanities (major/minor)
  • Admitted students will work at a local organization and complete a project
  • Practicum requires class meetings and 20 hours of service.
  • Final project will be presented at the end of the program and back on campus at CLIC and also a the Medical Humanities Fair.
  • Please, verify MDHM requirements for Practicum students.

Students will have the opportunity of exploring PAMPLONA, BILBAO, SAN SEBASTIAN, OLITE, UJUE, ARTAJONA, ZUMAIA, GETAIRA, ELIZONDO, VALLE DE BAZTAN... (some visits included in the program). Please, ask about traveling policy during program (leave of absence)
