Components of Weather
Use the resources on each page to create definitions for the 6 components of weather! If you are ever stuck, look at the resources in the "yellow question mark" to help you write a definition!
Temperature
We will do this together!
1. What factors create hot temperatures?
2. What factors create cold temperatures?
3. Write a definition for temperature
Humidity
Move the air particles (black dots) so they represent how air looks when hot vs when its cold!
Hot
Cold
1. After moving the dots observe the space between them. Water vapor is water that has turned into a gas, looking at your boxes, describe what type of air (hot or cold) would be able to hold MORE water vapor and which LESS
2. Make a definition for humidity
Pressure
A column of air, is all of the air above a particular space. Look at the image to the left. 1. Describe at which air column would exert a lot of pressure (high pressure), and which column less pressure (low pressure) 2. Write a definition for Air Pressure
Wind
Study the GIF below. Put the H (high pressure) and the L (low pressure) in the correct spots on the GIF.
1. AT THE SURFACE, air travels from areas of _____________ pressure to areas of _______________ pressure. 2. Create a definition for wind!
Cloudiness
Clouds form when air rises
2. What type of air would form clouds? What type of air creates clear skys?
3. Come up with a definition for cloudiness
Precipitation
1. Precipitation is any form of water from the sky
2. Where does rain come from? And what other forms of precipitation are there?
3. Come up with a definition for precipitation
