After failing to adapt to British life, he accepted that he would be an Indian forever.
At 13
He was born in Porbandar.
He had his first son, Harilal.
He married Kasturba.
After a short time, his father died.
Sometime while he was in England, his mother died, but he didn't know it until return to his country.
He ate meat at first time.
When he was small, he moved to Rajkot.

He told his father he had stolen gold from his older brother, disappointing and saddening him. Mohandas decided to change.
He became a lawyer and immediately returned to India.
He started to study law in England, thanks to his older brother Laxmidas.
He was at school, and he had friends who were bad influences.

After had more problems on a train and in an hotel, his family arrived to South Africa and he gives a discourse. He became the leader of the Indian company.
After a while

His work for the Indian company finished.
He had his second son, Manilal.
He tried to help his brother Laxmidas with a British political agent, but he failed.
He wrote letters to combat a new law in South Africa that made the Indians have no opportunities. The law continued, but he was no longer shy.
He earned money writing petitions to government offices.
He got the railway allow well-dressed Indians on 1st and 2nd class.
He opened a small office. After a while he had his first client and discovered that he couldn't speak in public.

He came to Durban, South Africa, due to a legal case of a Moslem businessman. He had an argument with the judge at the court.
He went to Bombay to study the Indian laws and become a better lawyer, because he couldn't earn money.
He realized that he was bad with Ba, so he tried to be more patient.
The Europeans tried to drive the Indians out of South Africa with taxes (he still lived there).

He met General Smuts until sign an agreement (Indians could vote an the tax was cancelled).
1897
He organized an ambulance of 1,100 Indians to help in the Boer War, but nothing changed.
He became ill and returned to India. During the trip, he translated his book 'Home Rule' (Gandhi's ideas).
He had his third son, Ramdas.
Once healthy, he traveled across the country to talk to people.
He went to prison many times.
It helped workers and farmers in some parts of India.
He organised an Indian ambulance to help. He was criticized.
He started a short trip to have meetings in India

When he returned to South Africa, he was nearly killed by angry Europeans

He had his fourth son, Devdas.
He left the country to go to Great Britain. Two days later, the First World War began.
He started an ashram (a small community) where he was the Bapu (father).

After some time
He was freed. He traveled across the country once more to try to unite and teach people (to end some customs ...).
1918
At midnight, the Indians declared their independence and began a non-violent resistance campaign.
With a tragic demonstration in Amritsar he understood that British rule in India must end.
He went from village to village to recruit people for the British Indian Army.
A boycott of British councils began.
There was a hostile atmosphere after many arrests, so he decided to leave politics for a while. That's why he was arrested (he accepted the sentence)
He became very ill and went home to rest.
With the end of the war

He continued to travel to educate and started Satyagraha Sabha.
A boycott of a white committee started. A constitution began to be written.
After a short time
People started calling him Mahatma (the Great Spirit).

During the 1930s
After a week
Due to World War II, he decided that the Indians had to become independent to protect themselves.
12th March 1930
He was arrested and the resistance returned.
He walked 388 km to the Arabian Sea in a demonstration against the salt tax.
He returned home because his agreement with Lord Irwin failed and the people went to prison.
When he got out of prison he traveled across the country with his fight.
He began to fight to improve the lives of the villagers. Moreover, he started living in a village, where he taught how to make things and then sell them with an organization which he founded.
In prison he fasted to demonstrate against the treatment of untouchables.
He arrived the 5th April. In May he was sent to prison because of he had caught salt from the sea.
A year later
Lord Irwin, a British representative, freed him to talk.
After some time
While he was walking to a hall, someone threw a bomb to him, but he was not injured.

18th January 1948
1947
He and many more people went to prison because of the vote on the Quit-India resolution. The violence started across India.
Representatives of the two sides came to him and signed a peace agreement in front of him. Then, he stopped fasting.
He spoke with the new British representative, Mountbatten. The British had to leave India quickly.
30th January 1948
On his way to a meeting with Ava and Manu (two of his nieces) next to him a man fired three shots at him with an automatic pistol and he died.
In Novembre, because of a fight between Moslems and Hindus, he went to visit homeless camps on both parts.
Few days later, a young man threw a bomb over his garden wall.
While he was in prison
He left prison to see Ba, who died surrounded by her relatives. Gandhi's heart broke.
13th January 1948
He decided to fast at his home in Delhi until the end of the fight.
