Brief:
Can we, by improving the dining/catering facilities on board, enhance the general experience of travellers using the train, or even make travelling by train more attractive to the general public as an alternative to other forms of transportation?
Idea generation
The Idea:
survey:
- A belt system for luggage
- can be dragged out from the trains walls
- the belt can be unlocked with the travellers ticket
People do not feel safe leaving their luggage unattended going to the bistro
- Seats are the main selling point for trains
- Lockers won't work as there is not enough space on the train
- something is needed that works for all sizes of luggage
Requirement:
The solution has to be space efficient and universal
Done by another group of students
Idea generation/concept development:

Descision making:
We collected Ideas in a miro board and formed groups with similar ideas

Moodboard:
Concept development
Realisation
I made this storyboard to visualize the process of using the dining robot. The storyboard was to communicate to the client how the robot would work from start to finish
Conclusion
What went well?
- communication between the group members
- Meeting attendance
- crazy 8
- the work was split up well
What could be improved?
- variety of my input
- I started to specific with the belt system
- building a prototype would have been good
La Farola
brief
Develop a new customer experience by creating a new furniture library that somehow restrict our customers choices, but still have that bespoke air to it
Orientation and research
Requirements:
- comfortable place sizes, since La Farolas products are luxurious
- 4 seat table for average household size of 3,6 in Bolivia
- standard table height is 76 cm
- 74cm, since the avg height in Bolivia is <160cm
The table has to be 74cm tall and has to hold at least 6 seats
Idea generation
- a modular table system with custom legs
- parts can be preproduced and then put together however the client wants it
- I gathered other students who wanted to work on a modular dining table and we formed a group
- We created a moodboard to present our ideas and inspiration to the client
- I made a grid where the team can put their work
Concept development
flaws with the current design:
- the table legs take away legspace on the table ends
- the legs could be more filigree
- can the tableplate hold enough weight?

Princess traveller
Brief
Design a suitcase or bag with additional functions that makes life easier(or just for fun) for travellers during their trips
Project planning
Orientation and research
- I did research on travel restrictions for suitcases
- I documentated my research in google docs
- I tried to make the research more accesible by making a color coded overview in miro for my peers

Detailed sketch
Client thank you gift
Brief:
Create an alternative client gift to the usual whine bottle that is also representative for the IDE study programme
Concept development
The idea:
- a keyholder/multitool
- IDE logo will be engraved
- we decided to design something that is useful for the client
Reworked prototype:
1st prototype by Davide Fogazza
- wood part replaced by metal for more stability
- make the multitool more comfortable in pockets
- Easy to produce by lasercutting
Building the prototype
Preparing the plates:
Deburring the holes using a special drill so there is no debris and the screws fit nicely
Drilling the holes using a drill head thats slightly bigger than the screws we are using
Marking where the holes should go on the metal plates
Lasercut prototype:
Testing and validating
- We lasercut a more advanced version of our prototype
- We tested if the bottleopener could create enough force to open a bottle
- the bottle opener did not work right away so we made adjustments
- we sanded the tip off the bottle opener so it could fit under the bottles cap
- the bottle opener worked after making said adjusmtent which can be seen in the following video

Sketching lessons
4th sketching lesson: I learned how to draw a simple 3D object using technical drawings
2nd sketching lesson: I learned how to draw cubes following the basic rules of 2 point perspective
3rd sketching lesson: I learned how to draw ellipses and a torus in 2 point perspective
1st sketching lesson: I learned how to use different lineweights when sketching
6th sketching lesson: I learned how to construct basic round objects in perspective
5th sketching lesson: I learned how to draw a more complex object using technical drawings
Productober/sketching practice
I asked duncan for feedback and did the sketch again to see how much I could improve

assesment plan
- I made an excel file to plan what I am going to do each day until the assesment
- The sheet is color coded and includes important deadlines I have to meet
- At the end of each week I check the rubrics to see what I have left to do and plan the next week according to that
