Nouns

are words that name persons (Jack, boy), places (school, London), concepts (freedom, friendships), or objects ( pet, cat,table). we could identify 2 types: common (general) and proper (specific)

Pronouns

are words that replace specific nouns (he, him, it, themselves, yours.....) .there are many types of pronouns: subject ( I, You), object (him, her) , reflexive( myself) and possessive pronouns (yours, ours)

Adjectives

are words that describe nouns ( funny, well-written, boring, hungry, big, black, round) it could describe the manner, the shape, the size, the colour, the age, the feeling, the state.....

Verbs

are words that describe a specific action ( run, play, speak, dance, drive) or specific feeling ( love, hate, enjoy) or specific state ( be, seem, look)

Adverbs

are words that describe an adjective, a verb or another adverb -extremely beautiful -run quickly

Prepositions

are words used to show direction,time, place, location or spatial relationship ( in, on, from,to, above, below, between, at....)

Conjunctions

are words that make it possible to build complex sentences ( and, but, whereas)

are words that describe one specific noun ( the, a )

Passive voice

An active sentence is a sentence which has a known subject and a verb. However, sometimes we do not know the subject: doer of the action Suzy writes the poem= Suzy is the doer of the action The bank was robbed= we do not know the doer of the action T he vaccine was invented by scientists= tha action of inventing the vaccine is more important than who invented it the rule: S+V+0= active voice S+to be+ pp= passive voice

direct speech is a sentence uttered face to face between people. While reported speech is a sentence said by someone else, reporting what other people said : John: " I will visit you this evening"= direct speech John said that he would visit me that evening= reported speech
