Thermal Expansion
The increase in the volume of a material when particle in motion increases.When this happens Kinetic energy increases.The opposite is known as Thermal contraction.

what is Thermal Contraction
thermal contraction is when the kinetic energy of the particles decrease and occupy less volume.
note: Kinetic energy in particles means the faster or slower the motion of the particles is.
