Psychology

Memory is a psychic process that has to do with the success of what have been learned and the reproduction of what has been gained through learning and from experience.

Memory is connected with learning and forgetfulness.

Types of memory

Memory begins with remembering what is learned or experienced.

Psychology

Then comes the recognition that implies the fact of contact not for the first time. This is also the easiest form of human memory.

Memory

The memory system consists of: Sensory memory, Short-term memory, Long-term memory.

Sensory Memory

It is the first stage of memory. It lasts very little and the information is not processed.

1. Iconic memory that has to do with visual perception. 2. Echoic memory that has to do with the perception of the listener.

Psychology

Short-term memory

At this stage only some of the mental figures are stored in the short-term memory repository which lasts 1-2 minutes.

Psychology

Long-term memory

In this type of memory is carried the information where the attention is maximum. This information is stored for longer and often for life.

Psychology

Memory can also be divided into Explicit memory (memory for information that we are aware of), Implicit memory (memory for information that we are not aware of).

The three basic components of a memory system are:

Storage

Usage

Encoding

The third step is the reproduction that extracts the information from the system to be used by us.

The second step, the information is stored so as not to be forgotten.

The first step is coding, the entry of information into the nervous system of memory.

Memory storage

Different memories are stored in different parts of the brain • Short-term memories are stored in the prefrontal cortex. • Long-term memories are stored in the temporal lobe. Strong emotional disorders, strong traumas can remain in our memory for the longest time. This disorders stress, anxiety, nightmares, depression.

Memory disorders

Amnesia - is a severe form of memory disorder. It is a mental illness. It can be complete and partial. Pre-amnesia- is a disorder when the individual mixes you with people, events and subject subjects. Hypermnesia - the development of extraordinary memory, keeping things in the spotlight for a very long time.

Forgetfulness

Forgetfulness is a complicated test as it does not happen suddenly but starts with stages. Oblivion is not remembering what is learned.

Improve memory

One of the techniques for improving memory is SQ3R

Survey - is the first step of getting acquainted with the material without details. Questions - we try to formulate questions for each problem posed in the material. Read - reading very carefully and attentively. Recite- here we are required to say aloud what we have learned. Review- recall, check and repeat the material.
