Characteristics of Multimedia materials
Definition
Multimedia is the combination of text, audio, images and videos in order to provides entertainment.
The challenge of multimedia is to lead active cognitive processing in learners so that they can construct meaningful internal representations.
Differences between printed and multimedia resources
- Traditional materials are mainly produced on paper
- The student carries out individual activities and must wait for the teacher to correct him.
- when working with traditional material, all students must keep pace.
Printed
- Digital materials occupy all kinds of resources written text, spoken images
- They are interactive, so that the activities you carry out can be corrected immediately.
- the student who uses digital materials takes a more active role in his own learning as he searches, investigates, explores, makes decisions
Multimedia resources
Differences between printed and multimedia resources
Printed
Multimedia
- Containe only two media types.
- Viewed on paper documents.
- Minimal to no interactivity.
- It can usually be found in bookstores or libraries stores.
- Increase enthusiasm for learning.
- Create a rich and relaxed environment for students.
- Improves the quality, understanding and knowledge of the study content.
- It favors the implementation of bidirectional teaching.
Differences between printed and multimedia resources
Selecting the most suitable resources and the precise time to develop the language skills in the classroom is a challenge for educators
According to (Dai W. & Fan, 2012) multimedia makes the class boring and lack of emotion interaction
Print and multimedia materials complement each other and help educators and learners to achieve a better teaching process.
Learners with special needs require accesible printed material
