Psychosocial skills facilitate:

  • communicating
  • learning
  • making friends
  • asking for help
  • asking questions (Dowd & Tierney, 2005, p. 1)
  • building self-esteem, positive self-image

A child who does not learn psychosocial skills and the basis of social interaction is at tremendous risk for failure in classroom, juvenile delinquency, being ostracised by positive peers, or being adversely influenced by negative peers. (Dowd & Tierney, 2005, p. 2)
