THE EARTH IS A PLANET
Our Solar System has eight planets, which orbit the Sun. The Earth is the planet where we live. It is the third closest planet to the Sun. The Earth is spherical in shape, but flatter at the poles. The oceans and seas cover three-quarters of the Earth's surface.

ROTATION
The Earth rotates on its axis. One complete rotation takes 24 hours ( 1 day). It causes the change between day and night.
The Earth also orbits the Sun. One complete orbit takes 365 days and 4 hours (1 year)It causes the four seasons: spring, summer, autumn and winter.
