Ten Things about our icon
Starring: My grandmother!!
Start! Basic Information
My grandmother's full name is Sofia Marasigan Esguerra. She's the 4th sibling and she is the oldest daughter. She's born on August 20, 1953. She's originally from New Danglayan, Bauan Batangas before she decided to move in with us in the year 2013 when our house finally finished being built and being furnished. She wasn't with my mother throughout her life because she was busy working abroad but in the end, she chose to live with my mother and her family.

Our similarities!!
To be completely honest, we have a lot of similarities. Mostly our attitudes. My grandmother is a woman with a strong attitude. She will fight for herself and will not accept being called a failure. Just like her, I have a bold personality. As I am titled the "gifted child", many of my relatives make toxic comments about me and compares me with other people but thankfully, I inherited my grandmother's personality. I stand up for myself and still pay my respect.

She came up with an idea to open up a business. Lola, along with my mother and aunties, rented a space for a business by the Main Gate of Villa Marie Bauan.
Our business is still on going and we have full support from my father. Sometimes visitors from other areas would go and buy from our store and we'd be extremely grateul for them.
This was the year where the pandemic hit and we had to temporarily close the store due to the covid protocols. After 3 months or so, we reopened and had great sales.

How is she our icon?
My grandmother was the very first person to open a convenience store that is in the subdivision's premises. She became an icon and people started to follow her steps and open their own business inside their own homes.

How did it help our community?
Our subdivision has a rule that the homeowners were not allowed to build their businesses within the subdivision's premises. My lola knew that this was very unnecessary and inconvenient especially to senior people like her. She made a request to remove this rule and she even stated her reasons why. People saw this as an advantage and sided with her. The rule was removed and we helped the community have easy access to a store to supply their needs and wants.
2 facts about our icon!!
She always wanted to be a traveller and visit every country in the world. She also dreams to own her own store and sell her hand-crafted products.
