My first contact with English took place when I was in Elementary school.

That's me!

I didn't take English as a subject at school at that time but I received private lessons for a while...

Elementary school

...she was my first English teacher.

This is Mari Carmen...

She wasn't a native speaker

but she was blonde enough to look like one.

There, we would learn English through games and drills.

Mari Carmen picked me and some other kids up from school and took us to her house....

How do we way "Avió" in English?

...and she was my second English teacher.

No one remembers what happened to Mari Carmen.

This is Miss Cliff...

Probably, my parents just decided that a native English would be a better teacher.

No memories of Miss Cliff.

Primary School

It was in 3rd grade of Primary School....

...when I took English as a subject at school for the first time.

My English teacher in Primary School

This is Jose

In his classes...

Unit 7

...we would do glossaries...

High School

Then it was time to move to the building down the same street...

The Workbook

Now I ask myself: What is "Real English"?

Those Jose's glossaries and songs were subsituted by...

The Students' book

Among all my English teachers in HS...

This is Sandra

She was the first English teacher who...

What do you study English for?

...and encourage us to THINK critically and creatively.

...promoted working in groups...

She used to draw small faces next to the important things on the board. Since then, I do the same when I take notes.

But English became increasingly difficult.

I mastered the fill-in the gaps activities but now...

...I wasn't able to PRODUCE anything CREATIVELY in English.

It just took me two classes with him...

But then I met Ángel.

... to realize I had never been taught English well before.

He encouraged me to write

and write

and write

but creatively.

About anything I enjoyed or was interested in.

English classes consisted on doing activities from the book and correcting them.

Then I started Bachillerato...

And the Students' book and the Workbook came back!!

I enjoyed my high school years so much that...

when the time to choose a degree came...

I knew I wanted to become a TEACHER.

And as ENGLISH was my favourite subject at school...

- When the time to choose a dreegree came… family pressures to choose English...

University

I chose this degree because of the English language but literture modules were what I enjoyed the most in the end.

Here the classic workbook returns but in another format

...English Studies seemed a good option to me.

And then... in my 3rd year of uni

It was time to go on Erasmus.

NOTTINGHAM

After 4 years of too many exams and assignments...

Time to say goodbye to uni!

WELL,

NOT REALLY

I'm currently doing my Master's degree in Secondary Education...

...and trying to get the most out of my last year as a uni student.

Although a teacher never stops being a learner.
