Faust Vrančić
Faust Vrančić was born 1551. in Šibenik (Kingdom of Šibenik). He was a Croatian inventor. He died 20 January 1617. in Venice.

Education
As a child he attended schools in Venice, then he attended university in Padua, where he studied law, engineering, physics and mechanics.
Title of bishop
He later got the title of The Bishop of Csanád in Hungary. He got the title in 1598. He also joined the brotherhood of Barnabites in Venice in 1609.

The parachute
Faust Vrančić designed the parachute based on some of Da Vinci's sketches. He tested the parachute in 1617. by jumping off of St. Marks Campanile in Venice. At the time he was 65 years old. There is no evidence that anybody ever tested Veranzio's parachute.
His five-language dictionary from 1595 entitled Dictionarium quinque nobilissimarum Europae linguarum is our first dictionary published as an individual book. The author used Latin as a source language
