We discuss lots of materials about English once a week. We are discussing lots of materials about English at present. We discussed lots of materials about English three weeks ago. While we were discussing lots of materials about English, our brains were operating busily for hours. We have dicussed lots of materials since the new manager joined our company.
I had brush my teeth, I used some mouthwash to make sure my breathwould be extra fresh. I ralized I had rinsed my mouth with aftershave instead of mouthwash. I went to get dressed and realized I had left my best shirt in the washer. After I had waited for a few minutes, I realized I had put on my shirt inside out. When I came back, a waiter had given my table to someone else. They finally gave me a tableapolozising that they had made a mistake. When I saw her, I felt the wait had been worth it.

The earlier of two past actionsWe can use had+verb 3 to show the order of two past events. It shows the earlier action and the past simple (verb 2) shows the later action. Example.When the police arrived, the thief had escaped.The thief had escaped when the police arrived.
