Adjectives and Gerunds

We gonna work with two topics "Adjectives" and "Gerunds"

This week we will begin with Adjectives and the other two weeks after vacation we will work with Gerunds and finally a review of two of them.

Nouns Do you remember the nouns? Is a name of the person, place, thing or event. Example: Jessica, Supermarket, Chair, Parade.

Adjectives

What are the adjectives? Adjectives are words that describe nouns, can tell us information about the noun, such the size or color, also tell us someone opinion about a noun or describe someone his feeling.

Examples Michelle is pretty. Pretty is used for describe to Michelle. We went to the amazing party at your home. Amazing is used to describe the party.

Adjectives answer this questions. What kind? How many? Which ones?

Examples What kind of person is Jhonny? Jhonny Is a kind guy. How many rooms do you have in your house? I have three rooms. There're four flavors of ice cream, Which one is your favorite? My favorite is the vanilla.

Gerunds and Infinitives

What are the gerunds and infinitives? Are words with a verb meaning, they function as nouns in a sentence.

Gerunds Are formed by adding -ing to the base form of the verb. Verb + -ing Example: Reading, walking, writting Infinitives Are formed with the base form of the verb. To + verb Example: to eat, to write, to run

Sentence Patterns Subject + verb + object Subject and object are usally nouns, but gerunds and infinitives can also function as the subject or object of a sentence.

Gerund Verb + gerund Common verbs are: consider, discuss, enjoy, finish, keep, practice, quit, recommend and suggest. Example: Carol and Jhonny consider having a date this weekend.
