What does the concept of “postmethod” imply in a historical context?

  • Nowadays, it has been realized that there is not a "general" method. Each person has their personal way of learning.
  • "method" means every practical stuff that students do in classtoom.
  • "Method" Preset stuff that students are going to do in classtoom.

Why has the dichotomizing of “theory” and “practice” been dysfunctional?

In time gone by, theorists and practitioners were two sepparate subjects in learning. Theorists had privileges over the practicioners, since these last ones, were seen as consumers.

What does it mean to be an “informed eclectic” in choosing and evaluating techniques for a communicative L2 course?

It means that teacher analyzes and looks for the best evaluating techniques for students. Bearing in mind that students have different abilities. Since informed ecletic combine a variety of methods.

What are the characteristics and contexts of a variety of general communicative approaches to methodology?

Overall goals. Relationship of form and function. Fluency and accuracy. Focus on real-contexts. Autonomy and strategic involvement.

What are some of the more specific contexts in which communicative approaches apply?

Some specific context are when students are looking forward to have a better comprehension of the language. How to transmit their ideas correctly, leaving in the background the grammar and rules.
