- Spain is located in the southwest of Europe, on the Iberian Peninsula. - It is the fourth largest country on the continent. - It consists of the Spanish mainland, two autonomous cities in Africa (Ceuta and Melilla) , the Balearic islands in the Mediterranean Sea and the Canary Islands in the Atlantic Ocean. - Spain is divided into 17 Autonomous communities and two autonomous cities. Each community has got its own borders, capital and flag.

There are some mountain ranges that are far from the Meseta Central. In the north the Pyrenees form a natural border with France and Andorra.
