What is the mice models and why do we use them?

Mice model !
- Autism is a severe neurodevelopmental disorder, which typically emerges early in childhood.
- The core symptoms of autism = deficits in social interaction, impaired communication, and repetitive behaviour, including self-injury
- The mice model is the use of mice in disease research
- Mice are the most used animal for studying humans, because of their genetic similarity to people, and their social behaviour,
- Mice models hold potential for learning about the biology of autism.

+ One core symptom of autism is deficits in social behaviour
Why we chose the mice model
Mice are biologically similar to humans and get many of the same diseases, for the same genetic reasons. The ability to manipulate the mouse genome is what makes the mouse so relevant today. With modern sequencing and genomic engineering technologies, the precise mutations underlying human disease can be introduced into mice, yielding more accurate and useful disease research data.
