In approximately two hours, the waterline reached the boat deck and the Titanic sank early on April 15, 1912
The ship was described as unsinkable because she used the most advanced technology available at the time
On April 10, 1912, with 2,240 people on board
Before midnight the ship hit an iceberg and Captain Smith ordered a full stop
A total of 1,517 people died and the sinking is considered one of the deadliest maritime disasters in history
As nobody thought that the unsinkable ship could ever sink, she just carried 20 lifeboats with a capacity for 1,178 people
