4a's learning model

overview

Based on Kolb’s Experiential Learning Theory it aims to approach the child holistically. It also acknowledges the past schemes of the student and integrating it to a new one so most likely this format will bring out what has been in stored and what is missing will be filled in eventually towards a deeper knowledge of the lesson. It stands for

  • Activity
  • Analysis
  • Abstraction
  • Application

01

  • Discuss human impacts in the environment;
  • Display interest and cooperation in class;
  • Identify the positive and negative impact of human in the environment

SUBJECT MATTER

Title: The Human Impacts on Environment Value Focus: Cooperation and Attentiveness Materials: Projector, Laptop,, Art Materials, Cards and Pictures Reference: HUMAN IMPACTS ON THE ENVIRONMENT retrieved from https://www.nationalgeographic.org/topics/resource-library-human-impacts-environment/?q=&page=1&per_page=25

DEVELOPMENTALACTIVITIES

A. PRE-ACTIVITY

VARIETY OF ACTIVITY SHOULD BE GIVEN TO THE STUDENTS IN ORDER TO ACCOMMODATE THE PREVIOUS KNOWLDGE TO THE NEW. THE ACTIVITY IN THE 4A'S AIMS TO GIVE UNDERSTANDING TO WHAT THE LEARNER'S PRIOR KNOWLEDGE AND GIVE IDEA WHAT WILL BE LEARNING THROUGH THE ACTIVITY THAT WILL BE PRESENTED.

PROCESS QUESTIONS

1. What have we discussed in the last meeting?

2. Based on your understanding, what are biogeochemical cycles?

3. What are the 5 cycles?

4.Biogeochemical cycles can be classed as _______?

5. Plants and some animals obtain their nutrient needs from solutions in the ___________?

ACTIVITIES proper

A. group ACTIVITY

This will bring understanding to what the learners already know and clarity to what learners should learn further. At this early stage, the student should already have a retrospect of what they will be learning through the activity that will be presented.

identify me!

The students will identify what kind of human activities they belong to the 5 impacts of humans on the environment.

pair me with!

b. by pair activity 1

THE STUDENTS WILL COLLABORATE AND ANSWER THE FOLLOWING QUIESTIONS:

1. Why is it important to protect our environment? 2. How can we stop the negative impacts that humans do in the environment?

b. by pair activity 2

THE STUDENTS WILL SELECT THE CORRECT ANSWER IN THE BOX AND THEN FILL IT IN THE BLANK

1. Human activity has had an effect on the _________.

environment temperature biophysical environments biodiversity pollution

2. Human impact on the environment includes impacts on______ _______,________ and other

3. Human impacts can contribute to increases in stream _________.

analysis

A more in-depth understanding of the lesson, it is another phase where the students will process and classify what is valid and not. The teacher on this part will ask further questions and will also lead as a facilitator rather than mere lecturing and sharing facts and ideas. The students know gains a wider view of the lesson but at the same time draws closer to the main topic.

A group of men are illegally cutting down trees. Q: What happens if we continue to cut trees illegally?

activity 1

GROUP 1

role-play

People are overusing groundwater. Q: What will be the result in overusing groundwater?

GROUP 2

the teacher will divide the class into 5 groups, and present situations to be analyzed by group representatives

A ton of teens are burning plastics everywhere. Q: What would be the result of burning plastics in our environment?

GROUP 3

A man is driving at full speed contributing to climate change and temperature is rising. Q: How does it affect invasive species?

GROUP 4

Farmers and Fishermans are overharvesting and overfishing. Q: Is overharvesting a threat to our environment and biodiversity?

GROUP 5

ABSTRACTION

The teacher on this part will now focus entirely on the lesson being presented and ask more lead questions to lead the students in reinforcing what they know and should know more. The student here starts to feel more the importance of the lesson to her and see the necessity of it to his/her life.

VIDEO PRESENTATION

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Um-bo2MWDsQ

GROUP ACTIVITY

The teacher will present three pictures of different impacts of the human activities in the environment on the board and each group will guess what is being illustrated. In the group, the students will brainstorm ideas about the illustration and choose a representative to report to the class the group’s insights and also sharing a short experience
