CONTEXT

Justification

The Moving Forward English program means a strong beginning of the second language learning experience for pupils in the first grade of the private Baptist school located in Concepcion-Masaya. The people who live in Concepcion are very hard working, and they do believe that education is a treasure. The designers observe that English as a subject is being implemented just using a handout to deliver the lessons, so that we will need to support that dream of education as treasure by designing a contextualized program to have the children involved in a meaningful learning environment that will give them the basic of the language tools to face future learning processes, not only learning English, but the other subjects as well.

Goals, and objectives

Goals: To design a communicative English proposal project for first graders at Baptist School in la Concepcion-Masaya. Objectives: 1. To identify the students and institutions needs through a need’s analysis process for the English class. 2. To recommend appropriate teaching methodologies according to the students' needs in the English class. 3. To recommend the most effective theories of teaching a second language to keep up the program. 4. To suggest the most appropriate materials for supporting the lessons. 5. To provide the most suitable assessments for the program.

Conclusions/Recommendations

  • At least once a week students should have access to the data show for having presentations, and availability of speakers.
  • We recommend that there should be at least one class observation for verifying the application to the methodologies, and the program implementations.
  • This program should be revised, and updated if need each 3 years.
  • Teachers must be trained to get to know this program, making emphasis on the suggested methodology.
  • Big English Plus 1, 2 are suggested as the textbooks of the course.
  • Each student should have their own book.
  • The institution should provide the resources to support the learning experience.
  • Teachers should be trained to apply the TPR, and Project based to evaluate students.
