• was a Filipino American author, poet, and activist.
• A chronicler of the Filipino American experience during the 1930s - early 1950s
• he is best remembered for his semi-fictional, semi-autobiographical novel America Is In the Heart (1946) — a staple in American Ethnic Studies and Asian American Studies classes.

• A poet, fictionist, teacher and literary critic
• Her works are characterized by a remarkable fusion of style and substance, of craftsmanship and insight.
• Together with her late husband, Edilberto K. Tiempo, she founded and directed the Silliman National Writers Workshop in Dumaguete City, which has produced some of the country’s best writers.

• was born on April 2, 1788 in Bigga, Bulacan in the Philippines.
• He won a number of awards and accolades for some of his pieces such as "Ama ng Balagtasan."
• Upon his release from prison in 1838, Baltazar published "Florante at Laura," and it was considered by many to be his best work.

paz marquez benitez

• Born to the prominent Marquez family of Quezon Province, Marquez Benitez belonged to the first generation of Filipinos trained in the American educational system.
• Among her students were Loreto Paras Sulit, Paz Latorena, Bienvenido Santos, Manuel Arguilla, S.P. Lopez and National Artist Francisco Arcellana, who later emphatically declared, “She was the mother of us all!”
• “Dead Stars.” This story, first published in 1925 and regularly anthologized since, is considered the first modern short story written in English by a Filipino.

• s a Filipino screenwriter, journalist, novelist, and playwright.
• he has written more than 180 film screenplays, which earned him more than 70 trophies from various award-giving bodies, including three life achievement awards
• On 11 November 2008, Himala won the Viewer's Choice Award for the Best Film of All Time from the Asia-Pacific Region in the 2008 CNN Asia Pacific Screen Awards beating nine other films voted by thousands of film fans around the world.

Rene estella amper

• Rene Estella Amper was born on October 18, 1940 in Boljoon, Cebu.
• as poet, he has participated as an Asia Foundation Writing Fellow at the Silliman U. Summer Writers' Workshop in 1968 and 1969. He has also shared the 2'nd Palanca prize in poetry in 1989 with Fatima Lim for a collection called All Else Is Grass .
• He wrote the poem 'Letter to Pedro, U.S Citizen, Also called Pete
