READER RESPONSE CRITICISM
Focuses on how a literary text affects the mind of the reader, viewing the meaning of a text as the product of the interaction between the reader and the text. This approach takes as a fundamental principle that in “literature" exists not as an object upon a printed page, but as an operation between the physical text and the mind of a reader.
How you as a reader, how you respond.

This type of criticism describes what happens in the readers mind while interpreting a text. A reader - response criticism might also explore the impact of a particular text on his or her own ideas or values. For example, one might reflect on how a particular character seems admirable or unlikable and why. One might reflect on how ones religious, culture or social values, affect readings, it also overlaps with gender criticism in exploring how men and women may read the same text with different assumptions.
