Trial Navigator's Matching Data Elements Feature
In this interactive experience, get a live look at how Inspirata’s AI/NLP technology extracts known data elements to match patient profiles with clinical trials.
Get Started
The Matching Data Elements Feature is available directly from the Trial Navigator interface. Get started by clicking the "View Matching Data Elements" button.
Welcome to the user interface for the Matching Data Elements Feature. Here you can view the Patient Report Text (left) and the extracted data elements from the Trial Criteria (right). To view the original text from the Trial Criteria, click the "Original Tab" in the top right corner.
On this screen, you can see the original text from the Trial Criteria.
Inspirata’s proprietary AI/NLP technology can read through the trial and classify criteria as inclusion or exclusion. Trial Navigator pulls all those elements out for quick viewing in this panel.
To view extracted elements from these criteria, click the "Extracted Tab".
In the Trial Criteria section, data elements are highlighted in different colors. Green is used for the elements meeting the pass criteria while orange is for the ones matching the fail criteria. The data elements highlighted in grey have been extracted from the trial criteria, yet are unkown in regards to the patient. Click the "Pass Filter" to show a list of all matched data elements fitting the pass criteria of the trial.
Great! Now you can see all the trial criteria that have successfully matched elements from the patient profile. Next, we will demonstrate how to review the trial criteria that fail to match elements from the patient profile.
Click the "Fail Filter" to view this list of extracted data elements.
Through Inspirata's AI/NLP technology, we have been able to identify data elements in both the pass and fail criteria for this patient trial match in a matter of seconds. Let's go back to viewing all of the extracted data elements again, and take a deeper look at what else has been pulled from these documents.
Although efficiency is a great quality to have for an extraction software, the quality of the extracted data is equally important. Let's take a deeper look at how Inspirata's AI/NLP gathered these elements. Click the "ER Positive" data element on the right hand side under Biomarkers.
By clicking on the individual element, you can get a better understanding of why this element was pulled from the Trial Criteria in the Trial Text box that pops up. If you look in the Patient Report Text on the left, you'll see the selected data element is highlighted within the text. At the bottom of the screen, there are 2 more data elements highlighted below the break. Click the button to view them.
This prompts the system to scroll down to the additional highlighted elements that were found within the Patient Report Text. Now that we understand how this item works for pass criteria, let's take a look at some of the unknown. Click the "Neoplasm Uncertain Benign" element found in the ICD-O-3 Morphology section.
Because this element was only identified in the Trial Criteria, nothing in the Patient Report Text will be highlighted. However, clicking any data element will still reveal the original Trial Text relevent to how and why it was pulled from the criteria.

Trial Navigator offers a transparent way to understand how each data element extracted from the trial has been matched to the available patient profile. Thank you for letting us demonstrate how easy it is to dive deeper into the matching results.
