This is a young slash pine tree.
It will grow to be a tall adult like the ones behind it.
You can compare the young tree and the adults. You can tell how they are alike and different.
The young tree and the adults both have skinny, green leaves called needles.
They both have a stem, or trunk. Even though they are alike, they have some differences.
The young slash pine tree has soft needles. Its trunk is thin and bends easily.
