PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

ACR I provides students with an overview of the operating, electrical, and general maintenance systems of the automobile. Safety and operation of equipment and tools will be introduced. Students will gain an understanding of the materials, measuring, welding, and information resources applicable to collision repair. Students will explore methods for repairing fiberglass and plastic damage. ACR II topics include automotive painting technology, collision damage appraising, and fiberglass plastic repair.

AUTO SERVICE TECHNOLOGY

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

AST I encompasses the sub topics of the NATEF/ ASE identified areas of Steering & Suspension and Braking Systems. Additional areas of manual transmissions and differentials, automatic transmissions, air conditioning, and engine repair are covered. Mathematical skills will be reinforced through precision measuring activities as well as cost estimation and calculation activities. Scientific principles taught and reinforced in this course include the study of viscosity, friction, thermal expansion, and compound solutions. AST II encompasses the sub topics of the NATEF/ASE identified areas of Electrical Systems and Engine Performance.

CT I prepares students with the basic skills needed to continue in a construction trade field. Topics include types and uses for common hand and power tools, types and basic terminology associated with drawings, and basic safety. Also prepares students with framing skills along with interior and exterior finishing techniques. CT II covers the basics of electricity including the National Electric Code, electrical safety, circuits, and residential electrical services. Students also gain an understanding of concrete properties, foundations, slab-on-grades, and vertical and horizontal formwork.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

F& R I introduces students to the roles that firefighters play to protect the public from the loss of life and property. Students will be introduced to the history, terminology, and basic firefighting skills needed. F&R II students will prepare to be leaders. Students will be given a group of Fire and Rescue I students to serve as their squad leader. State certifications include Fire Officer Strategy and Tactics. Students will work with a State investigator covering fire investigation.

HEALTH SCIENCE EDUCATION I

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

This course will prepare students to take the Indiana State Department of Health Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) examination. Students will also be able to work with the basic knowledge and skills to provide primary care in various healthcare facilities. Topics covered include confidentiality, infection control, basic nursing skills, and CPR. In addition, students will complete a Medical Terminology course. Medical terminology is used to precisely describe the human body components, processes, illnesses, medical procedures, and pharmacology.

HEALTH SCIENCE EDUCATION II

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

Students will gain the knowledge and skills to sit for the National Healthcare Association Certified Clinical Medical Assistant exam. Instruction includes taking and recording vital signs, preparing patients for examination, patient education, and assisting the physician during the exam. Students will also learn medications, wound care, how to perform an ECG, basic phlebotomy, and other lab skills. Topics also include behavioral health, medical law and ethics, and electronic records. There is a focus on administrative duties as well as clinical skills.

PRECISION MACHINING

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

PM I provides a basic understanding of the processes used to produce industrial goods, build a foundation in conventional milling and turning, and build a foundation in abrasive process machines. Instruction will focus on shop safety, measurement, layout, blueprint reading, shop math, metallurgy, basic hand tools, milling, turning, grinding, and sawing operations. Students will be introduced to CNC setup, operations, and programming. This course prepares students for National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS) certifications. PM II is an in-depth study of skills learned in Precision Machining I with a stronger focus on CNC setup/operation/programming. Class activities will concentrate on precision setup and inspection work as well as machine shop calculations.

VISUAL & GRAPHIC COMMUNICATIONS

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

VGC I students learn graphic design using the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite. Students will use Adobe Illustrator to create vector based designs, drawings, digital illustrations and layouts. Adobe Photoshop will be used for photo editing and creating a variety of conceptual photo manipulations. Adobe InDesign will be used for desktop publishing layouts and typesetting. VGC II students will use Adobe Animate to create vector animations, motion graphics, and visual effects in addition to the InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator. Adobe Premiere Pro will be used to create and edit timeline-based videos.

WELDING

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

WT I includes classroom and laboratory experiences that develop a variety of skills in oxy-fuel cutting and basic welding. Shielded metal arc welding and gas welding processes are also included in this course. Emphasis is placed on developing the skills necessary to comply with AWS industry standards to receive certifications. WT II builds upon the knowledge and skills developed in Welding I by developing advanced welding skills in gas tungsten arc welding (TIG), pipe welding, and fabrication. Students may have the opportunity to apply their knowledge and use their skills in a work-based learning experience.
