Jonathan Swift
He born in 1667 in Dublin. And died in 1745.He was a satirical writer.
He was raised by his uncle. He studied in Kilkenny College and Dublin University. In 1702 Swift received his Doctor of divinity degree from Trinity college. Swift became increasingly active politically during this period of his life. Specially when he became a member of the inner circle of the English Tory government. When Georges first took the throne, the power shifted from the Tories to the Whigs. Swift had to leave England for Ireland in virtual exile.
The Battle of the Books, 1704
In 1729 in writing modest proposal Swift used his favorite literary weapon (irony). When he approached the end of his life Swift became increasingly consumed with the thoughts of death. In 1731 he published his own obituary.
