Onsen are the country's hot spring and the bathing facilities and traditional inns around them. In Japan, an Onsen is defined as 'hot water, mineral water, water vapor and other gas. Onsen are filled with natural volcanic spring water.

Japanese call fireworks Hanabi, meaning 'fire flower". Originally used to ward off evil spirits, Hanabi have a long history in Japan and are an integral part of Japanese summers.

The Sento has existed for over 400 years in Japan. Sento are public baths, dotted throughout communities in Japan. Sento simply use heated tap water unlike Onsen.

Sumo is the national sport of Japan. As many aspects of old Japan remain in sumo, such as topknots, traditional dress amd ancient customs. Sumo is more than just sport, sumo is a living example of traditional Japanese culture.
