Data center

What is a data center?

A data center is a physical facility that organizations use to house their critical applications and data. Adata center's design is based on a network of computing and storage resources that enable the delivery of shared applications and data.

Components of a data center

Data center router:

They essentially guide data traffic over a computer netwowrk reding the network address information on incoming data packets and routing them to the proper destination. There are two rypes of router: Core router: are responsabile of directing data traffic whitin a network Edge routers: On the other hand, have to serve a broader array of funtion. They are the gateway connecting the local network to the external, wide area network (WAN).

These devices are analog devices, whose function is the interconnection of networks by operating in layer two or following the data link level of the OSI model. It can be divided into three different designs:

Data center switch:

Access switches

Distribution switches

Core switches

Are the only ones that directly interact with end-user devices. Because an access swith connects the majority of devices to the network, the access tier typically has the highest port density of all switch types

These are used to connect the core and access tiers together on the network. If data needs to be moved from one distribution block to another, the switch pushes that data

The only tasks a core switch should perform are routing at layer 3 (the network layer) and switching al layer 2 (the data link layer that moves data across the physical links of a network

Data center firewall

A data center firewall is a software or hardware device that monitors traffic entering and axiting and organization's network, or, as network perimeters fragment a portion of that network down to the workload level, to filter out ecternal threats

+info

Data center storage

Is the collective term used to define the tool, technologies, and processes to design, implement, manage and monitor storage infrastructure and resources whitin a data center.

+info

Data center server

Is basically a computer without peripherals like monitors and keyboards.Aserve operates entirely as a saving location, and is connected to a network to make data accessible to computers

+info

Data center rack

Is any framework that houses IT equipment in a data center. In general, these racks are made of steel and designed to safeguard the equipment.

Benefict of a rack

When the servers get quite hot from all the information it processes, racks are designed to create better airflow, making it easier for industrial cooling equipment to chill them. Racks also are great for security because of where they often live. There's no chace of danger if they're in a data center.

+info

Data center security

It refers to the physical practices and virtual technologies used to protect a data center from external treats ans attacks. Data centers provide services such as data storage, back up and recovery, data management and networking. Because data centers hold sensitive or proprietary information, such as customer data or intellectual property, sites hace to be both digitally and physically secured.

Data center cooling

Most industry recommendations says that the proper temperature for a data center should not go over 82 degrees Fahrenheit. That is the maximum it should ever reach. however, a good range of temperatures in the server and data rooms can be anywhere from 68 to 71 degrees Fahrenheit.
