What Is Stress?
Stress is a normal human reaction that happens to everyone. In fact, the human body is designed to experience stress and react to it. When you experience changes or challenges (stressors), your body produces physical and mental responses. That’s stress.

Stress is your body's reaction to the demands of the world (e.g. Acute and Chronic). Stressors are events or conditions in your surroundings that may trigger stress(e.g. Eustress and Distress).

Eustress, or positive stress, has the following characteristics:
- Motivates, focuses energy
- Is short-term
- Is perceived as within our coping abilities
- Feels exciting
- Improves performance.

Distress, or negative stress, has the following characteristics:
- Causes anxiety or concern.
- Can be short- or long-term.
- Is perceived as outside of our copin abilities.
- Feels unpleasant.
- Decreases performance.
- Can lead to mental and physical problems.

- Knows how to accept failures
- Dont criticize or blame themselves
- Believe that they cant always get what they want
- Believe that they cant always be who they want
- Recognize life is full of challenges or failures and part of human existence.
Self compassion = Less anxiety and depression Self compassion ≠ stopping and staying where you are. It is equal to trying to do better for yourself.
Remember
We should be in control of the stress that confronts us everyday. Otherwise, when we are overwhelmed by stress it has a negative effect to our physical and psychological health.
