Making Peace Denise Levertov
I chose this picture of a piece sign because the main subject of the poem is peace and how how it can be made. The poet uses different examples of how it can be made, mainly talking about war.
I chose this picture of war to describe the poem because the poet is trying to say how peace can be obtained through war. Throughout the poem she compares peace and war and shows how they are similar in certain ways. For example, in the poem it says, " peace, a presence, an energy field more intense than war." This shows how she is comparing them, and saying that peace could be as intense as war.
One of the themes that is shown in the poem is empowerment. The poem shows empowerment because it talks about ways to make peace in the world. An example of empowerment in the poem is when she talks about making peace through war. This shows empowerment because by fighting in a war you can become stronger and gain certain rights for country or whatever you' re fighting for. An example of empowerment from history would be making peace through protests. For example, in the Civil Rights Movement they protested for equality and the rights that they deserved, which shows empowerment.
