What's Science Adventure?

Science Adventure (SA) is an integrated project that simultaneously responds to the challenges of 21st century education: understanding Science in English. SA is developed from the principles of a student-centered educational approach, this series covers the themes, performance indicators, and DBAs established by the Ministry of Education of Colombia. SA integrates English learning along with diverse contents such as life, earth and space sciences, physical sciences and technology. Likewise, the learning objectives are structured through Bloom’s Taxonomy, guaranteeing effective and measurable learning processes.

With Science Adventure, students will:

Understand science as a human activity that is directly linked to their culture and environment.

Develop scientific skills through practice and conducting experiments.

Practice and improve their communicative skills in the foreign language through current and meaningful topics.

Reinforce concepts, content, pronunciation and listening comprehension through podcasts.

Scope and Sequence (SS) The SSs thoroughly portray the syllabus of the school year. Thus, planning becomes easier and quicker.

Student-centered Approach Invite your students to extend the topics; suggest them to scan and listen to the QRs/podcasts and practice the RLP activities prior or after the classes; empower your students of their own learning.

Remember the Language OF-FOR-THROUGH Learning Anticipate the type of language your students will need. Pictionaries, journals, flashcards, posters are few strategies you might try to foster the target language in your science classes.

The more, the merrier Science Adventure should be used alongside any other material, resources or experiences at your disposal.
