Introduction
The bildungsroman is a narrative genre it is characterized by presenting an evolution in the main character –the way of the hero–throughout its pages (narrative genre linked to youth literature). It is also known as a training novel or a learning novel. In other words, its construction is a profound transformation that gives rise to the identification between the reader and the character.
A Bildungsroman is, most generally, the story of a single individual's growth and development within the context of a defined social order. The growth process, at its roots a quest story, can be described as a search for meaningful existence within society. The process of evolution is long, arduous, and gradual, consisting of repeated clashes between the protagonist's needs and desires and the views and judgments enforced by an unbending social order.
