Coco Chanel was a French fashion designer and entrepreneur who ruled the Parisian haute couture for nearly sixty years. The quilted purse, the woman's suit, the "little black dress," and costume jewelry are one of her greatest inventions. During her early time as a singer, she was nicknamed as "Coco."

Early life

Coco Chanel was born Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel on August 19, 1883, in Saumur, France. Her mother was a TB patient who died when she was just 12 years old. Her early years were marked by hardships. Coco Chanel's father abandoned her along with her siblings after her mother died. They were forced to go to an orphanage to grow up. Coco was placed in a Roman Catholic orphanage for six years. She learned to sew from the nuns at the orphanage.

Coco left the orphanage when she was 18 years old. She relocated to the town of Moulins. She worked as a seamstress before starting on a singing career at cabaret events. Because her voice was not good enough, she was unable to maintain a stage career. Chanel Coco opened a trendy clothing business in Deauville in 1913 with the help of her lover, Arthur Capel. She used the jersey fabric, which was a produced fabric, in a unique way. During WWI, the jersey fabric proved to be more beneficial. As a result of this, she earned the title of fashion icon.

Career

Chanel sells alot of different products ranging from clothes, to fragrances, to handbags to watches and many more. The brand is most famous for its “little black dress”, the Chanel No. 5 perfume and the Chanel Suit, Chanel also sells skincare which is really popular nowadays.

Coco Chanel Opened her first shop in Deauville in 1913, Chanel started out selling hats. She later added stores in Biarritz and began making clothes. Now there is a total of 310 stores around the world. 94 in Asia, 70 in Europe, 10 in the Middle East, 128 in North America, 2 in South America, and 6 in Oceania
