Emily Dickinson
Emily Dickinson was an American poet. She was born in 1830 in Amherst, Massachusetts, the USA. She lived a very quiet life with her parents and sister. She rarely travelled but she was interested in the outside world. She wrote hundreds of poems about nature: plants, animals, seasons ... But she never published any while she was alive. Once she died, her family discovered many poems in small books she made by sewing the sheets of paper together She also used envelopes, letters, chocolate wrappers .... Click HERE to see them.

Poetry for kids
Many of her poems for kids appear in this book "Poetry for kids". It is a series of 35 poems arranged by seasons and beautifully illustrated. Take a look...
The sea for Emily
The sea was a repetitive topic in Emily Dickinson´s poems. She lived most of her life inland, far from any shore, but she devoted many of her poems to the sea: the tides, the waves, the sailors... Here is one of the most beautiful ones: "I started early". Listen carefully... Now it´s your turn. Click here to see your own "envelope poems".
