SOME AND ANY IN QUESTIONS

In most questions (but not all) we use ANY

- Is there any ice in the fridge? - Did they make any mistake? - Are you doing anything this evening? - I can't find Ann. Has anybody seen her?

We normally use SOME (not any) when we offer things, specially when we expect the answer 'yes' (or aks for things):

- A: Would you like some coffee? B: Yes, please. - A: Would you like something to eat? B:No, thanks. (Can I have some....?/ Can you lend me some....? etc) - "Can I have some soup, please? - Yes, help yourself." - "Can you lend me some money? I'm sorry , I can't!"

COMPARE SOME AND ANY:

(=any coffee) - I've just make SOME coffee. Would you like SOME? (some coffee) - I haven't got ANY money. Can you lend me SOME? (some money)
