Welcome Page
The Welcome page provides students with a general overview of each menu within CAS and its expected usage frequency. The contents of this page and the menus visible to you will be updated as required throughout the semester ... so you know what you should be doing at each stage of the Capstone.
Project Proposals
The project proposals page is one of the most vital pages for students to go through at the beginning of the semester. It present students all the important information about the available projects they can choose for their Capstone project - working as a team to vote on what the most suitable projects for their skills/ interest. This page also allows students to get to know their sponsor's goals, the context of the project and what success might look like. It presents students with the initial scope of the project and helps them understand their sponsor. However, as an initial document it may become outdated as the team or sponsor agree to adjust the scope as things are better understood in the planning process.
Capstone Team Page
The team page allow students to know their Capstone team members, and is where the results of the team formation (matchmaking) survey is published. This page gives the contact information of each team member and grows to include the details of the Capstone project when assigned. Each Capstone team is assigned a letter of the alphabet and at the bottom of this page a team can choose their (one word) name based on the assigned Team letter - e.g. Team I choose to be known as Team Imagination.
Weekly Reflections
The weekly reflections page is released after team formation and project assignment has completed. It aims to encourage individual learning and the weekly reflection page provides students with the opportunity to record the experiences of the past week. The mandatory weekly "temperature check" is a simple "Smiley Face" style assessment of each student's feelings and the ability to leave a short note to their tutor so the teaching team is of any team issues/ risks and can take action where required.
There is the option to provide a longer reflection on each individual student's experience of the past week - doing so weekly is highly recommended.
As each reflection is added CAS will show a summary table of each weekly entry. While a temperature check is required for each week of the Capstone project, extended reflections are optional with a minimum of 8 required to pass the pass the unit. Students' reflections are private by default, however they may choose to share their reflections with other students where they do not identify the specific project or any individuals in their entry.
Project Proposals
Students can submit their own Capstoen projects that relate to their specific interests. The only condition is that there has to be an independent individual willing to act as project sponsor.
Tips & Tricks Page
Students will find some relevant Tips & Tricks added from time to time. These are designed to stimulate Capstone students' thinking but the guidance offered is not intended to be applied without consideration of your specific project context. Students can also provide feedback on these Tips & Tricks so that they can become more useful and clear in the future.
