Conclusion
Learning Objectives
- I want to know how to develop my scientific method correctly: How to build a good title or hypothesis, understand the way to experiment and learn how to use a chart and a table. Also I want to solve all this problems using and learning all the steps from the scientific method.
Scientific Objectives
- I have chosen this proyect because I want to know how to measure time with a pendulum, and I want to finish this project knowing the answer of this question: Could we measure a second with a pendulum?
Observation
Before watches/chronometers were invented, people used to chronometer pendulums. This pendulums had to use an angle, weight and longitude of the string pattern, because if not the results of timing something will be different one from others. For example, Galileo used the pendulum for the study of the fall of the bodies. Newton also used it
Question
Could we measure a second with a pendulum?
Hypothesis
- If the angle in which we place the pendulum changes, then the time of the period of the pendulum will increase/decrease.
- If the weight of the pendulum's bob changes, then the time of the period of the pendulum will increase/decrease.
Experiment
Hypothesis 1
-Materials: a triangle, a stick, a string, a nail, metal rings, a ruller, a weighting machine, a movile phone and a notebook -Procedure: Hypothesis 1: After we build the pendulum, we take our pendulum's string and our triangle to set the string on an specific angle (that later, will change) to then throw it and we count 10 periods at the same time we chronometer the seconds, then we write the results and we repeat the process again.
90º=1,595s 60º=1,428s 45º=1,413s 30º=1,375s 120º=1,612s (20g)
Experiment
Hypothesis 2
Procedure: Hypothesis 2: We take our pendulum's string and we tie some metal rings to it, then we take the triangle and we set an angle (that will not be change) to then throw the string and count 10 periods at the same time we chronometer the seconds, then we write the results.

Laws and theories
Hypothesis 1: My first hypothesis was right, changing the angle in which we place the pendulum, the period's time will increase/decrease. Hypothesis 2: My second hypothesis was also right, if the pendulum's bob weight changes, the period's time will increase/decrease. Could we measure a second with a pendulum? Yes, we could, changing the angle and the weight of the pendulum's bob, we could finally reach a period of one second.
Learning objectives Conclusion
At he beggining of the project I wanted to know how to develop my scientific method correctly: How to build a good title or hypothesis, understand the way to experiment and learn how to use a chart and a table. Also I wanted to solve all this problems using and learning all the steps from the scientific method. Now that I have finished this project I know how to solve all my objectives as I have put them in practice.
Scientific objectives Conclusion
I have chose this proyect because I wanted to know how to measure time with a pendulum, and I wanted to finish this project knowing the answer of this question: Could we measure a second with a pendulum? The answer to my first objective is that I do know how to measure the time with a pendulum, it´s just changing the independent variables until you get whatever second for period you think is better for your measurement, and that´s it. And about my question, for measuring a second it´s just change the independent variables until your pendulum´s period is one second.
Hypotheses Conclusion
As I have already said in my slide "laws and theories" my two hypothesis were right: Hypothesis 1: If the angle in which we place the pendulum changes, then the time of the period of the pendulum will increase/decrease. Hypothesis 2: If the weight of the pendulum's bob changes, then the time of the period of the pendulum will increase/decrease.
