MANTOVA
HISTORY
"Mantova" comes from the name of Manto (a sorceress from Greece) and our lakes where created by her tears.Actually Mantua was founded by Etruscans about 3000 years ago. Then it was dominated by France and Austria. Only from 1866 it is an Italian city.
It is a Renaissance villa built between 1524 and 1534 on commission of Federico II Gonzaga by the architect Giulio Romano.

PALAZZO TE
Basilica of St.Andrew is the largest Church in Mantua, it was built by Leon Battista Alberti, inspired by the Etruscan temple model.
BASILICA OF SANT'ANDREA
Palazzo Ducale is a body of buildings built between the 14th and the 17th century mainly by the noble family of Gonzaga, which lived in the palace from 1328 to 1707. Piazza Sordello is known for hosting Festivalletteratura, one of Italy’s most anticipated events.
