What is Level Up?

When a student is absent (planned, chosen, or unexpected) on a test/summative due date, they will be referred to the next Lancer Level Up day. This means students will NOT necessarily be parked the next day, it may be a few days or weeks later. Therefore, teachers may wish to avoid scheduling summatives on days impacted by pre-existing events (e.g., field trips, meets/tournaments, school-wide activities, etc.). However, if it’s not possible to avoid a day impacted by a pre-existing event, teachers can choose to run a make-up date prior to the next Level Up day. Students requiring accommodations that cannot be fulfilled in the classroom (e.g., scribing) will continue to receive support through LPS/Student Success in Room 108 on test/summative days and/or during a Lancer Level Up day. Throughout the course of the school year, there will be ten (10) preset Level Up days for students to catch up if they have missed tests and/or other summatives. If students miss the Level Up day that they are assigned to, they will no longer have the opportunity to complete that missed summative. However, they will have the opportunity to demonstrate their understanding of missed expectations on the final culminating assessment.
