Instructions for level assessment and placement within core curriculum:
Alternatively, the symbol on some slides will indicate a curriculum launch point.
  1. Lead your new student through the slides. They should reply in a full sentence, drag & drop, click to select, listen and do, read and respond or type text answers.
  2. Award your student a point per slide accurately accomplished.
  3. When your student struggles with 1-3 slides consecutively, you've reached their proficiency level. Stop the diagnostic lesson.
  4. Tally up your student's points and measure these against the rubric (next slide), which will indicate the Level and Unit to start them on within the Crystal Clear ESL core curriculum.

Scoring Rubric

9-11 out of 24 possible points Student is any age: Beginner A2 proficiency Level 4, Unit 1, Lesson 1
12-16 out of 24 possible points Student is any age: Intermediate B1 proficiency Level 5, Unit 1, Lesson 1
6-8 out of 24 possible points Student is school age: Beginner A1 proficiency Level 3, Unit 1, Lesson 1
17-19 out of 24 possible points Student is any age: Intermediate B2 proficiency Level 6, Unit 1, Lesson 1
>5 out of 24 possible points Student is school age: Pre-beginner >A1 proficiency Level 2, Unit 1, Lesson 1
20-24 out of 24 possible points Student is anyage: Advanced C1+ proficiency Level 7, Unit 1, Lesson 1
>5 out of 24 possible points Student is pre-school age: pre-beginner >A1 proficiency Level 1, Unit 1, Lesson 1
Extension Level 8 available for very proficient students

A few teaching notes:
