Adverbial

Adverbs

  • An adverb is a word that describes a verb (an action or a doing word).
  • Adverbs often end in -ly.
  • An adverbial phrase is like an adverb, it adds more information to the sentence, but it uses more than one word to describe the verb.

For example:

  • She swims really well.
  • He ate his breakfast quickly.

For example:

  • The farmer drove the tractor in the evening.
  • The scene was filmed near the bridge.

WATCH

adverbs of frequency

We use some adverbs to describe how frequently we do an activity.

  • Before the main verb:

I always remember to do my homework.

  • After the verb To Be.

They are never pleased to see me

  • Questions (between subject and objed)

Are you always busy?
