The goals of occupational safety and health programs include to foster a safe and healthy work environment. OHS may also protect co-workers, family members, employers, customers, and many others who might be affected by the workplace environment.

Fire Safety Code
A model code adopted by the state or local jurisdiction and enforced by fire prevention officers within municipal fire departments. It is a set of rules prescribing minimum requirements to prevent fire and explosion hazards arising from storage, handling, or use of dangerous materials, or from other specific hazardous conditions. It complements the building code.

5S
5S is the Japanese technique of good housekeeping and workplace organization. It is a systematized approach to organize work areas, keep rules and standards, and maintain the discipline needed to do a good job.
Seiri (Sort)
Seiton (Set in Order)
- Label items and their locations systematically.
- Store goods for first-in-first-out retrieval.
- Put frequently used items nearer to the user.
- Make things visible to reduce searching time,
Separate the unnecessary items from the necessary items within your work area, cubicles, tables, and drawers
Seiso (Shine)
Seiketsu (Standardize)
- Allot three (3) to five (5) minutes cleaning daily of work area before work starts and after you leave your work place.
- Assign owner to each machine. Person using the machine is responsible for to clean it.
- Prevent causes of dust and dirt by daily cleaning your work area.
- Use of visual control signs.
- Use of color coding.
- Use of fool proofing (pokayoke).
- Use of responsibility labels.
- Use of inspection marks.
- Use of maintenance labels.
- Use of one-point lessons.
Shitsuke (Sustain)
- Keep everything you did part of your daily routine. Make the 5S habit your habit.
