I think Beowulf would like this song because he is depicted as a hero that saves the land and people, but on the other hand, Beowulf also comes towards his end as he ages.

Therefore people honor him with stories about "his greatness, his glory".The lyric can seem like a citizen hoping a hero can help them, and Beowulf is that hero that kills Grandel.
