Profile photos on social media

  1. Do you have a social media account?
  2. What kind of social media site do you use and why?
  3. Do you have a profile photo or photos that you use on social media? Why did you choose them? How often do you change them?

My profile photo and FB account

Imagine....

you don't know me at all and you came across my profile photo on FB . What would you say about me by just looking at my photo?

My profile photo

Think and talk about

Personally, I agree with the positive interpretation of my profile photo. And there's a little bit of the interpretation of H too. I don't like exposing or showing what I do. I prefer keeping it to myself. I think I have a normal life, nothing extraordinary that deserves to be shown.

Nope, noone comes to mind right now! I can't think of friends or family whose photos fit with the interpretations of the article.

Modals of deduction

Deductions

They're guesses based on known facts. If we want to make deductions in the present, we can use MODAL VERBS.

Modals of deduction

Modals of deduction

Look at the evidence cards and make guesses using must, might/may/could or can't.

Modals of deduction

Who do you think the might be?

Look at the people in the photos and the list of jobs below. Each person does one of the jobs from the list. Individually, think which person might do which job.

a) Think and eliminate the jobs you think are impossible for that person. Use He/She can't be a... and say why.

b) Now say which jobs you think are possible. Use He/She might be a... and say why.

c) Make final decision for each person. Use He/She must be a... and say why.
